Our autonomous bus stop “Cologne”

As romantic as autumn is, it poses many challenges to outdoor products. It gets dark earlier, it rains and it storms. In order for our products to meet these challenges, we think through and develop them further. That’s why this year we are applying for the GaLaBau 2018 Innovationsmedaille with a special model of our “Cologne” bus stop including InLight illumination.

Our “Cologne” model is a versatile and flexible weather protection solution. Variable in size and configuration, the shelter offers maximum adaptability to a wide variety of applications. Because of a certified type approval, it can be set up without additional structural testing and can be customised in a wide range of colours and glass printing.

In this special configuration for the GaLaBau 2018, the sidewalls of the bus stop are equipped with a reflective film sticker, so that they are clearly visible to motorists even in the dark. Additionally, it is fitted with a weather-proof showcase in which, for example, timetables can be hung. Besides that, the system also meets the criteria necessary to be classified as barrier-free.

The highlight: Our InLight illumination

The InLight illumination is LED lighting developed by WSM in cooperation with WSH GmbH and the Technische Hochschule Köln. It derives its name through being completely embedded into the Cologne model´s trapezoidal roof construction. As a result, it blends seamlessly into the overall design and is also completely safe from vandalism. InLight illumination makes this shelter even more versatile. Moreover, it repulses the darkness on ever shorter, autumnal days. Because of its sophisticated design, the entire area is illuminated with only one light, thereby reducing acquisition costs.

In addition, the luminaire is controlled by a presence detector. In other words, it is turned on only when someone stands in the shelter. This reduces power consumption and maximises the light´s lifespan. As a special highlight, the shelter is also equipped with a solar panel which supplies the InLight lamp with energy, thereby making the illumination both environmentally friendly and independent of the power grid. This not only saves electricity costs but also the time-consuming laying of power cables.

All in all, this innovative product from WSM facilitates the work of gardeners and landscapers, providing a solution to make even remote bus stops safe and even a boon for the environment.
