Thinking ahead
As a technical system planner, you need a lot of theoretical as well as practical know-how and a good overview of all areas of a manufacturing company. Both are taught in our engineering department in aluminum and steel construction. In the vocational school, the knowledge is deepened, for example with technical arithmetic. When it comes to special orders or developing completely new products, our technical system planners are involved right from the start: They prepare quotation and order drawings, make preliminary designs and production drawings and, if necessary, make design changes - usually with the help of a CAD program, less often with paper and pencil. For our Shelter systems and modular room systems, they use a PC to calculate the dimensions and measurements of the required components, roof, snow and wind loads, and much more. Regardless of whether it is a display system or a multi-storey building - quality and costs must be right, and requirements such as corrosion, heat, fire or noise protection must be met. Technical system planners have all this in mind and always think "laterally", i.e. in different disciplines in which they are all very well versed. They select the appropriate processes for manufacturing and assembly, plan the work required, check different solution variants and compare their cost-effectiveness. In addition to their interest in mathematics and physics, trainees should have a good spatial imagination and be able to think abstractly. Diligence and a sense of responsibility, even in routine day-to-day execution, are required to create and manage technical documents such as parts lists and master data using PDM and ERP software, and to systematically back up all data. Communication and sociability help in the intensive exchange with colleagues from all areas. Technical system planners are in great demand in design and planning offices, in technical trades and in many industrial sectors - and at WSM!
