WSM sees itself as a manufacturer and a company that, through its portfolio and its actions, also pursues further reaching goals and supports others in the process.
WSM’s first bicycle parking systems hit the market more than 25 years ago. Since then, we have been able to continuously increase our expertise in this product area parallel to expanding our business. Recommendations for WSM bicycle parking systems from the German Cyclists Association (ADFC) provide security to our customers and planners.
With our service for architects and planners, we substantially facilitate the implementation of projects to improve the public bicycle infrastructure. This arises, in particular, out of the combination of bicycle parking systems with shelters. Through our voluntary participation in the DIN Standardisation Committee for Bicycle Parking Systems, we have been able to bring our experience and our quality orientation into the standardisation process.
In order to promote the “idea of cycling” in general, we are involved with numerous active memberships in initiatives and institutions.
As demonstrated in our production and logistics, we are committed to sustainability. WSM has been deploying an environmentally-friendly cleaning process that uses dry ice instead of solvent since 2009 and we use substantially solvent-free paint and environmentally-friendly, recyclable packaging material. Furthermore, we cooperate with experienced partners for proper disposal of our packaging material.
A further goal is to support companies and public authorities in implementing non-smoker protection laws. As one of the first manufacturers on the market, already in 2004, WSM offered comfortable protected smoking areas for outdoor use. Anyone who wants to or has to smoke should not feel marginalised or have to stand in the rain. This is our engagement for non-smoker protection.
By training young people in a variety of professions, our family business is also committed to socially-sustainable development in the regions of its production facilities and beyond. WSM is a member of the Association of Friends and Supporters of the Cologne University of Applied Sciences and participates in KURS (Cooperation Network of Companies of the Region and Schools), a joint initiative of the district government of Cologne, the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Aachen, Bonn/Rhein-Sieg and Cologne and the Chamber of Commerce to Cologne.
