Container or room module?

Among the inventions that have changed our lives is the container. The prefabricated steel containers have greatly facilitated the worldwide transport of goods, thus significantly reducing the cost of international trade. And containers have long since been used not only for transport, but also as Enclosures for plants, as laboratories and as recreation, work and residential buildings. Compared to conventional structures, they are much cheaper, faster to deploy and transportable. Positive characteristics that also have modular, mobile room systems, which are even more flexible than the usual containers.

The great advantage of the container lies in its standardization: the most common model, the ISO 668 container, is 12.192 m long, 2.438 m wide and 2.591 m high. In addition to this 40-foot container, other models with lengths of 20, 30 or 40 feet are also in common use, as well as particularly compact 10-foot containers with a length of 2.991 meters. All standard containers consist of a watertight steel box with end wall door and have standardized corner fittings for fastening to transport equipment and as access points for handling equipment. Standardized size, fittings and the use of trapezoidal steel sheet give the cargo container its typical appearance.

However, for some requirements, the standard dimensions of ISO containers are unsuitable. Where there is sufficient floor space, the usual variants can be used without any problems. However, in order to make optimum use of space, especially in the Indoor of buildings, for the precisely fitting Enclosures of machines and plants or for special sound insulation requirements, room modules with individually adapted dimensions and geometries are in demand.

Mobile room systems for your individual requirements

Such room systems are prefabricated by the manufacturer in the factory according to customer requirements and assembled on site in a short time. They have suitable dimensions and can be provided with various exterior trim, door and window elements, color schemes and complete interior equipment, including heating or air conditioning. By combining various design measures, sound insulation of up to 35 db is possible – a value previously unattainable for containers. For all their diversity, these modules can be moved with overhead cranes and even forklifts.

Outdoors, where the dimensions of a building are usually less problematic, modular, mobile room systems also offer interesting advantages over standard container solutions, especially when it comes to reception, recreation, work or residential buildings. In addition to the greater design freedom in the forms that can be realized, everything that takes away the character of the provisional from the buildings plays a role: high-quality exterior cladding, mix of materials, color design, and decorative elements. Visitors, employees and residents should not feel like commodities – and after all, containers were invented and made for them.
