WSM sees itself as a manufacturer and company that also pursues broader goals through its offerings and actions and supports others in doing so.
WSM's first bicycle parking systems came onto the market more than 25 years ago. Since then, we have been able to continuously increase our expertise in this product area and expand the business. Recommendations of the Allgemeiner Deutscher Fahrrad-Club (ADFC) for bicycle parking systems from WSM give our customers and planners security.
With our range of services for architects and planners, we make it much easier to implement projects to improve public bicycle infrastructure. The combination of bicycle parking systems with canopies contributes to this in particular. Through our voluntary participation in the DIN standardization committee for bicycle parking systems, we were able to contribute our experience and our quality orientation to the standardization process.
In order to promote the "bicycle idea" in general, we are involved with numerous active memberships in initiatives and institutions.
We are committed to the issue of sustainability, for example in our manufacturing and logistics. Here we have been using an environmentally friendly cleaning process since 2009 that uses dry ice instead of solvents. We use a largely solvent-free paint finish and environmentally friendly, recyclable packaging materials, for whose proper disposal we cooperate with experienced partners.
Another goal is to support companies and authorities in the implementation of non-smoker protection laws. In 2004, WSM was one of the first manufacturers on the market to offer the first comfortable covered smoking areas for outdoor use. Those who want or need to smoke should not feel excluded or left out in the cold. This is how we are committed to non-smoker protection.
Finally, by training young people in a variety of professions, our family-owned company is committed to socially sustainable development at its sites and beyond. WSM is a member of the Association of Friends and Sponsors of the Cologne University of Applied Sciences (Verein der Freunde und Förderer der Fachhochschule Köln e.V.) and participates in KURS (Kooperationsnetz Unternehmen der Region und Schulen), a joint initiative of the Cologne District Government, the Chambers of Industry and Commerce of Aachen, Bonn/Rhein-Sieg and Cologne, and the Cologne Chamber of Commerce.
